Engineered Products


Using product specifications,

reading and interpreting engineering drawings and diagrams,

selecting suitable materials, parts and components,

creating a production plan, using processes tools and equipment including CAM,

QA, applying health and safety procedures

Impact of ICT,

impact of new components and modern materials,

the impact of control technology

This CD contains information on how Rolls-Royce produce the blades for its gas turbine engine. This component is manufactured using new materials and innovative production techniques.

The materials work through; design and development, quality control, manufacture planning, manufacture making, maintenance and Health and Safety.

The Diploma in Engineering

The Engineering Diploma will provide young people with a first chance to find out about engineering without committing to a specific career.  These new qualifications provide an opportunity for learners of all ability levels to:

  • find out about the breadth of careers available within engineering; 
  •  explore the role of engineering in society and in their future;
  • ‘have a go’ through applied learning; and
  • develop wider skills valued by employers, further education colleges and universities - including communication, mathematics and IT skills.
